Paramyxovirus

A subgroup of myxoviruses that includes the viruses of mumps, measles, parainfluenza, respiratory syncytial (RS) disease, and Newcastle disease. Like influenza viruses, the paramyxoviruses are ribonucleic acid (RNA)-containing viruses and possess an ether-sensitive lipoprotein envelope.
