Saturated fat

Refers to a fat that is full or "saturated" with hydrogen molecules. Saturated fats are semisolid to solid at room temperature. Examples include butter and lard. Dairy products and red meat products contain higher percentages of saturated fats than most foods. Too much saturated fat in the diet is associated with various diseases, such as arthritis and cancer.
