Reuse Your Clothing – San Francisco

Every year Americans throw away two quadrillion pounds of used clothing. Heaps of wasted clothing, often still in great condition, languish in landfills. Consider selling or donating your old clothes instead of throwing them out by using some of San Francisco's local resources. Donating, purchasing and reusing second hand clothing will significantly reduce the severe toll placed on the environment through the production of new clothing.

San Francisco Resources for Clothing Reuse

  • Wardrobe for Opportunity is a non-profit organization that provides professional clothing and coaching for those in need who are looking for employment. You can donate your gently used clothing and help someone find a job.

  • Out of the Closet thrift stores take all kinds of clothing donations, and the stores' profits help people who are affected with HIV/AIDS.

  • Plato's Closet in San Mateo will buy your gently used, brand-name clothing. Get rid of old stuff and make money!
