Leaf and Foliage Disposal – Los Angeles

Dispose of your yard trimmings in Los Angeles through the City's annual free collection or by dropping them off at the Sanitation Call Center. Composting in your own backyard is also a good way to recycle leaves and foliage and make fertilizer for free. Get more information from ecomii's guide to composting and tips on turning your leaves into natural fertilizer. Read the below tips for disposing of your yard waste:

  • The City offers once a year annual yard trimmings collection free of charge to all households served by the Bureau of Sanitation.

  • All yard trimmings must be bundled, tied, no longer than four feet long and no heavier than thirty pounds.

  • Call the Sanitation Call Center at 1-800-773-2489 or fill out a Service Request to schedule a collection.

  • Residents may drop off excess yard trimmings from 9:00am to 3:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays at 11201 Randall Street, Sun Valley, CA 91352. Residents must bring their current DWP billing statement and California driver's license.
