Leftover paint poses a problem for the environment when not disposed of properly. Because of the chemicals used in most paints, it is important that you use Houston's local resources for paint recycling. Not only can you recycle your old paint, but you can also purchase recycled and eco-friendly paint at various retail stores.
Local Information on Recycling Paint
Latex based (not oil) paint can be recycled at the City of Houston's disposal center at 5900 Westpark.
Adding an agent such as kitty litter, sawdust or old newspapers can solidify any leftover Latex or Water Based paint.
Paint that has been solidified can be put in a container with other trash and placed for curbside pick up.
Empty paint and aerosol cans can be put out at the curbside with common recyclables.
