Washington-based biotech firm Amplicon has developed a vaccine that effectively sterilizes a wide variety of mammals. As a humane, much cheaper replacement for surgical castration, its potential market ranges from zoo elephants to feral cats and dogs. With government approval, it could also replace castration in the beef industry.
