Reuse Your Clothing

Every year Americans throw away two quadrillion pounds of used clothing. Heaps of wasted clothing, often still in great condition, languish in landfills. Consider selling or donating your old clothes instead of throwing them out by using some of your local resources such as Craigslist or charities that interest you. Donating, purchasing and reusing second hand clothing will significantly reduce the severe toll placed on the environment through the production of new clothing.

Specifics for Donating or Selling Clothing

Many national charities and organizations accept used clothing donations:

  • Donate and find used clothing at your local Freecycle chapter.

  • Sell your clothing and accessories on Craigslist in your area.

  • Visit a Salvation Army to donate your used clothing

  • Donate clothing and other items to Goodwill. Click here to find a location near you.

  • Oodle.com will help you find a place to donate your clothing in New York City.
