Flax (Linum Grandiflorum)
By Bill Marken & The National Gardening Association

Color as quick and easy as from a wildflower is what you can expect from flax. Spring and summer bring brilliant red flowers (white varieties, too) that are 1 to 2 inches wide.

Plants grow up to 30 inches tall, but dwarf varieties are about half that size. Sow flax seeds directly in the ground in full sun.

Plant in early spring in cold-winter climates; plant in fall if your winters are mild. Use flax to cover those bare spaces between spring bulbs.
