Chrysanthemums, Annual (Chrysanthemum)
By Bill Marken & The National Gardening Association

The chrysanthemums of football season are actually perennials, but you can find many attractive chrysanthemums that are true annuals and bloom earlier in the year, including feverfew, painted daisy or tricolor daisy, and miniature Marguerite (all mostly white and yellow).

Sow chrysanthemum seeds directly in the ground in full sun as soon as you can work the ground. Thin seedlings to stand 12 inches apart. You also can set out transplants in spring, or in fall, if available, in mild-winter climates. These daisies do best in cooler climates. With luck, these plants may reseed themselves and come back yearly.
