African Daisy (Arctotis)
By Bill Marken & The National Gardening Association

Plant African daisy seeds randomly, directly in the ground, and in full sun, for a multicolored spring or summer carpet of cheerful 3-inch-wide daisies in bright orange, red, yellow, white, pink, and bicolors.

Arctotis hybrids, the most available types of this plant, grow up to 18 inches tall and produce beautiful cut flowers, although they last only a few days after cutting.

In cold-winter climates, plant in the spring, after any danger of frost; in mild-winter climates, plant in the fall. African daisies don’t withstand high heat and humidity. They bloom best in areas with cool nights, particularly in coastal climates. Remove faded flowers to prolong the bloom season.
