The USDA defines Natural for meat or poultry as products that contain no artificial ingredients, no added color ingredients, and are minimally processed. Although the USDA defines this term, it is not verified by any organization. The label must explain why natural is used (ex: no artificial ingredients).

Natural does not mean that the meat is free of hormones or antibiotics. See "Hormone Use in Food Production" and "Antibiotic Use in Food Production" for more information on buying meat, poultry and dairy raised without hormones or antibiotics.
