The EPA, or the United States Environmental Protection Agency, was established under the Clean Air Act Amendment of 1970 and holds its offices in Washington, D.C. The EPA is the part of the U.S. government responsible for protecting human health and the environment by researching environmental problems and setting laws and regulations regarding pollutants.
