The U.S. should institute a higher gas tax

If we had a higher gas tax, people would have to think more about filling up. The income could go toward developing sustainable forms of energy, which is what we really need.

The impacts of a higher gas tax would be felt throughout the economy. Though it might mean more revenue for the government, it would raise commodities prices, increase the rate of inflation, and make it even more difficult the American lower and middle class to make ends meet. Not a good idea, especially right now.

A higher gas tax would put more pressure on those people who are all ready in dire straits. And who knows where the money would go. I personally doubt that we can trust the government to use taxes to upgrade anything.

Use organic fuel : Henry Ford’s first Model-T was built to run on hemp gasoline and the car itself was constructed from hemp! On his large estate, Ford was photographed among his hemp fields. The car, ‘grown from the soil,’ had hemp plastic panels whose impact strength was 10 times stronger than steel. (Popular Mechanics, 1941.)
