It's only been five votes, but how could anyone disagree with this? Green and organic farming offers healthier food/products, more sustainable, and overall better for the planet. Government subsidies, unfortunately, allow certain markets to blossom and others to die. Organic farming deserves all the help it can get.

Organic farming is expensive and takes at least 3 years to get started. However, it does offer healthier food products and is much better for the environment. The government should definitely be subsidizing organic farming as well as putting money towards research and development to further improve other farming methods that are used.

In 1916, the U.S. Government predicted that by the 1940s all paper would come from hemp and that no more trees need to be cut down. Government studies report that 1 acre of hemp equals 4.1 acres of trees. Plans were in the works to implement such programs. (U.S. Department of Agriculture Archives.)
