I'm a quasi-patriot, but I'm sorry, American automakers will never be at the front of the "green car revolution." Look at them now, they can't even succeed making non-sustainable, eco-mean, products that need to be replaced in less than 10 yeas. The Toyota Camry last forever and the Toyota Prius is the best selling hybrid. Go Japan!

moose - i disagree with you. i know what you mean when you say that the american automakers are somewhat failing right now, but present failures should never be a reason for future failures. the united states has more technology, money, and innovative companies that have the potential to lead the car revolution.

I don't know if we can ever lead the green car revolution and we definitely have a lot of catching up to do, but let's face it, countries all over the world look to America to set the example and that is just what we have to do. American automakers should be leading the green car revolution, but the best we can do for now is to catch up and promote it as much as possible.

I lost my faith in American cars a long time ago. Greed and poor quality products have plagued the American auto industry for too many years, and now it's too late to catch up. The cold hard truth is that foreign automakers have surpassed us in quality, affordability and environmentally responsible products. GM and Ford had the technology and resources to provide us with greener cars years ago, but continued to focus on manufacturing and marketing SUV's and other large environmentally unfriendly vehicles to the masses.

Henry Ford’s first Model-T was built to run on hemp gasoline and the car itself was constructed from hemp! On his large estate, Ford was photographed among his hemp fields.
