Built Totally Green

Postby Michaela Miller » January 26th, 2010, 10:46 am

My husband and I lost our home during Tropical Storm Fay on 8/22/08. We are about a month away from moving Home into our new home (on stilts) which is scheduled to be the 1st Platinum LEED home in NE Florida. Our HERS rating is below 30! We have geothermal in the ground, 68 solar panels on the roof, solar hot water panels, Foametix insulation, Shield Products spray on aluminum roof that extends the warranty 10 years.
We've recycled all the bricks, pavers, even the roof shingles and drywall were ground up for landscaping -and we salvaged our front door! Only 2 dumpsters have gone to the landfill so far. We have a site that documents the storm and the rebuild www.BuiltTotallyGreen.com.
