sustainable baby strollers?

Postby Carolyn P » January 13th, 2010, 1:55 pm

I'm in the market for a new baby stroller and would like to know if there are any strollers out there that are made from 100% sustainable materials? I've looked at ones like the UPPAbaby Vista Stroller, but would like to find a cheaper alternative.

Another concern I have, is what do do with my old stroller.
It's made from plastic/metal, and is beginning to fall apart. I would like to donate it, but I fear it is in too bad condition to do so. Does anyone know if recycling centers will accept baby strollers?

The Goodwill in our area accepts baby strollers, but there are quite a few 2nd-hand places that don't accept any baby good, so definitely call first.

I haven't found an inexpensive option for sustainable material built strollers, but I haven't looked too hard since I used mostly 2nd hand. If you can find a 2nd hand stroller, and use non-toxic covers and accessories, it's a a good non-toxic, renewable and affordable option.
