If ever there was an eBay for the brokenhearted it would have to be I Do Now I Don’t, a site that is a virtual marketplace for romance gone wrong.
I Do Now I Don’t is a company that rescues gently used – and sometimes never used – baubles from gathering dust in the back of a drawer or jewelry box. It allows sellers of fine jewelry to get a fair price, while allowing buyers the opportunity to purchase jewels at a lower price than retail.
I Do Now I Don’t unites sellers of baubles, like engagement rings, with buyers. So when things “just don’t work out” a jilted fiancee doesn’t have to sell an expensive engagement ring for a song. But the site isn’t as depressing as it sounds. In fact, it’s a stroke of eco-genius.
Reusing items rather than buying new is the cornerstone of an eco-friendly lifestyle and the adage, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” has never been as sparkly as it is on this site.
On the buyers side, purchasing jewels from this site will not only save money but count as an act of recycling. Mining metals and gems is hard, dangerous work that is rife with worker abuse. Buying a pre-owned stone or ring reduces the demand for unethical mines (and lessens the load on your wallet).
The site sells all sorts of jewelry too, much of which comes with a story unrelated to being left at the alter.
Plus, each diamond sold on the site is inspected by a GIA-trained and accredited gemologist to assure its authenticity. The buyer’s money is released to the seller only when that certification process is completed. And the company’s auction process allows everyone to buy and sell jewelry in a trusting environment that is 100 percent secure.
Who knows? I Do Now I Don’t might just be the only good thing to come out of a bad relationship.
