Have you wondered why areas with hot climates haven’t utilized solar energy more? I have, and am happy to say that there is a man who wants to make the sun and integral part of the way we live.
Syd Kitson, Chairman & CEO of Kitson & Partners has partnered with the state of Florida and formed an alliance of unlikely bed-partners. Government leaders, environmentalists, utilities and private business partners are coming together in a manner not seen before. They plan to create the first ALL solar and carbon neutral city!
Once a cattle ranch and nature preserve, is now the largest preservation land acquisition in the history of Florida.
This community encompasses homes (for all income levels), office buildings, schools and stores. Even cars will be powered 100% by a $300Mil, 350 acre solar power plant with the integration of smart grid and smart home technologies.
Actually, this is smart home technologies on steroids, with wi-fi available everywhere. Your home can tell you when your kids get home from school, when your plants need to be watered, power distribution and even execute a “self-healing” function in wake of a disruption.
The community is designed in a way that you can walk to work, ride a bike to school, or utilize electric powered vehicles and alternative transportation. It is surrounded by a 91,000 acre nature preserve, 17,000 acres set aside for parks, lakes and of course community gardens.
The native landscaping techniques have been engineered to extend the habitat for local wildlife and vegetation which enhance the water quality, protect the wetlands, cut down on the need to use pesticides, fertilizers or additional water.
Even the lighting has been integrated in a healthy way for water, people and animals.
Employment and business advantages for “green jobs” and a place to foster the growth of renewable energy technologies, R&D and services. The buildings will also incorporate green roof technologies.
Living green takes on a whole new meaning.

This is really cool. Is there any sort of time frame on when this might actually happen?
This is amazing. I would love to live here. In a green friendly city, I can only imagine one would feel better about the world.
