As we go through the day, we put one foot in front of the other to progress from sunup to sundown. Yogic philosophy believes setting intentions for the day can increase enjoyment and productivity. Setting intentions with our body can create more energy and effectiveness.

Body awareness brings a consciousness to our behavior that influences the environment and the people around us.  This consciousness of our actions and the resulting reactions provides a tool for evaluating our effectiveness.

Bringing attention to breathing patterns and body posture is the first step to body awareness. Deep breathing and a relaxed, alert posture projects an attentive and results-oriented image. The rise in chronic health issues and the heated debate over managing health care costs can be an opportunity to explore how we can take control of our health and reduce recovery time.

There are easy and effective lifestyle changes that can go a long way toward reducing medical costs and improving the quality of your life. Create your own stimulus package by adding these amendments to your personal health plan.

Amendment 1: Manage inflammation

Consistent inflammation in the body can lead to many chronic conditions such as arthritis, heart disease and cancer. Learning about our personal processes helps us to become physically and spiritually aware.  We can become grounded through meditation, affirmations, exercise and journaling, which help us to recognize our behavior patterns.

This is the journey, to start acting from a place of wisdom, not one of fear.

Sleep deficit

Adequate restful sleep is important for the regeneration of cells and in creating and maintaining a healthy body and mind. …read more of Managing Periods of Deficit here

Our body is talking to us, for many screaming at us to listen. It gives us continual clues trying to get our attention.  We can feel butterflies in the stomach, hear ringing in our ears and see the hair standing up on our arm, but may not tune in to understand what it means.

More often than not we tune out because we don’t want to hear. We are all born with this innate ability to know what our body is telling us, but over time we quit trusting what we hear.

Exercise presents a great opportunity to listen to your body and to tune in to all it is trying to tell you. You can learn to listen to your body again through your exercise routine. …read more of Develop Intuition Through Exercise here
