Cody Elkins is a 12 year old racquetball champion living in Southern California.  He the second child in his family to celebrate his Bar Mitzvah at Veggie Grill in Westwood. Veggie Grill is a fast-growing quick casual vegan restaurant chain operating in California, Oregon and Washington, set to open its 29th location in Chicago.

Cody is part of a vegan family of six that was vegetarian when he was born and went vegan when he was two. He has two older brothers Dane, 18 and Jaden 16 and a sister, Madison who is ten. Jaden had his vegan Bar Mitzvah at Veggie Grill three years ago; the guests were delighted and the Elkins’ family was thrilled with the response.

Cody is planning his Bar Mitzvah with Scott Nicholson, Senior Vice President of Operations for Veggie Grill and Jake Hall, their Regional Operator who will make sure his Bar Mitzvah is a delicious and memorable event.

Cody is very excited to introduce his new Veggie Grill favorites to friends and family at his Bar Mitzvah and has a guest list with 100 family members and friends to celebrate his big day coming up in October.

Cody’s Bar Mitzvah theme is educating his peers about how easily they can get protein from a healthy diet based entirely on plant foods. He had his first speaking event at Paul Revere Middle School about this topic recently and it was a huge success. He prepared props and compiled lots of facts for his classmates.

The junior high school students were curious and asked great questions like ‘What do you eat?’ and ‘Have you ever tried meat?’ Cody believes he may have inspired some of his peers to try a vegan lifestyle.

Cody is a professional athlete. He is a racquetball champion featured on Great Vegan Athletes www.greatveganathletes.com as one of the top world athletes in his sport. Cody is the youngest athlete to be featured and is listed alongside great vegan athletes such as, Mac Danzig and Patrik Baboumian.

Cody’s guests will be in for a treat. There will be a custom menu to choose from with ‘Veggie Grill’s Greatest Hits’ and they just may bring back the chocolate pudding especially for this event!

Entertainment will be provided by magician Paul Fegen, ‘the Fantastic Fig,’ who made it all the way to Las Vegas on the popular TV show, America’s Got Talent.

Cody is in interested opportunities in vegan advocacy.  He is available on instagram @whatcodyeats and twitter @vegansportskid to share information and interact with his fans.
