Several weeks ago I attended the Justmeans Social Media for Sustainability conference in San Francisco.

Justmeans is a social utility where you can talk about your good work with the companies and people who matter on the sustainability scene. Unlike other social networks, Justmeans is a more targeted audience of people who share your interest in the environment and sustainability.

The conference, which hosted seven moderated panels on a variety of topics related to social media, helped attendees answer questions about social media from the simple to the complex: How should my company be using social media to engage our customers, employees, activists, and other stakeholders online? …read more of Justmeans to a Just End here

I, for one, try to avoid evil at every opportunity.  Perhaps that’s why I was drawn to Adina Beverages, whose slogan is “Drink No Evil,” and specifically their newest line of drinks: Adina Holistics.

I’ve been a fan of Vitamin Water for a long time, but I can report that I’ve now found a healthy and great tasting alternative when I’m in the mood for something different.

Using the notion of “drinking no evil” as a mission statement of sorts, Adina set out to create a beverage that taps into the growing consumer acceptance and enthusiasm for holistic and natural health.

The Holistics line bases its healthy outlook on the 5,000 year old tradition of Ayurvedics, and is infused with an impressive variety of herbs and vitamins that include anti-oxidants, blood pressure stabilizers, and exotic sounding ingredients such as “eleuthero root extract, ashgwandha root extract, astragalus root extract, ginseng extract, and reishi mushroom extract.” …read more of Drink No Evil here

Our editor sent me a link to a Time Magazine article titled “Asia Challenges the U.S. for Green Tech Supremacy”
I was enraged at the shallowness of this thought process. Having worked within global manufacturing for over fifteen years. I have seen the “new pink,” the buzz words that become the focus of corporations.

Spoken by the CEO’s to boards, stockholders and management; like “outsource,” ‘DIVERSITY,” “Supply Chain,” all of which have been great ideas that turned scapegoats; used for the purpose of getting a tax advantage, saving money, all about the stock price today. Nothing considered as to the long term ramifications. And this article is that one-dimensional.

With this knowledge, knowing others have similar insights I am throwing this out there to start a discussion. …read more of “Does Asia really challenge the U.S. for Green Tech Supremacy?!” here

Recession is Boon for Green Movement

lights-off.jpg

In this tough economy people are forced to cut expenses to the very basics of lifestyle choices. It’s gone beyond eating out less and not going to the cinema.

More time is now spent deciding on how to curb our drive time to save gas. Turning off lights when not needed - and sometimes even when we normally would think we need them on - can be an obsession.

Gas and electric bills are closely monitored so that maybe we’ll put on a sweater or open the windows rather than spending the extra dollars on our utility bills. …read more of Recession is Boon for Green Movement here
