eBay, the world’s leading online marketplace with 88 Million users, has launched a social media initiative campaign designed to inspire eBay buyers and sellers to create positive social change through a variety of eBay activities.

The innovative campaign links all five of the company’s pro-social initiatives: eBay Foundation, eBay Giving Works, MicroPlace, WorldofGood.com by eBay and the eBay Green Team to create collective, lasting and scalable social good.

What makes this campaign different?

“Give. Good. Green” is an initiative that highlights the power of the individual to make a difference on eBay and rewards them for participating! Each give. good. green action that members take to make the world the better place is an opportunity to win prizes. Each action taken is rewarded with an entry into a sweepstakes to win one of a whole list of amazing prizes, including an exclusive $20,000 Tazzari Zero electric car!

At www.ebaygivegoodgreen.com the visitor is invited to “Be a part of something greater,” and click on the menu to learn about the initiatives:

  • MicroPlace Investors can invest in microfinance organizations that provide loans to the working poor
  • eBay Green Team Connects users with thousands of members committed to help the world buy, sell and think green every day
  • WorldofGood.com Connects users with ethically sourced, Fair Trade and eco-friendly goods.
  • eBay Giving Works Offers a number of convenient ways to connect with trustworthy causes
  • eBay Foundation Engages employees and members in charitable giving and volunteerism to local communities.

eBay is a company well known for their commitment to economic and social betterment. More than $2,000 worth of goods are traded every second on eBay and to date the eBay community has raised more than $165 million for charity.

Every 18 seconds, someone on eBay makes a difference and since its inception, the eBay Foundation has invested more than $19 million in nonprofit organizations. Founded in 2004, WorldofGood.com by eBay empowers impoverished artisans in over 85 countries around the world.

More than 30,000 microloans have been funded by investments through MicroPlace and in the last three years, buying pre-owned handbags on eBay had the same effect as planting more than two million trees.

What if the problem is the inability to listen and the urge to react without thinking it through? Sometimes I think that’s why we are going downhill….
