Clean Your Air The Real Green Way

It is amazing how much work plant life does to clean the messes we humans make! So much, that there is a federal law in the U.S. that allows employees to bring plants to their place of work.

There have been many studies that show the reduction of toxins, dust, dirt and other pollutants by having plants inside. A great study to look at by NASA

I have loved plants since I could remember, so, if you come to my home or office, there is at least one plant in each room- sometimes 15+ in some! Well, depending on the season, the warm weather allows me to open the windows, and move my indoor plants to their vacation spot – outside!

Even in a green home environment we still get particles from fabric, rugs, animals, our own skin and hair-the possibilities are endless. I advise everyone try at least one! Let these workers manufacture fresh air, digest the poisons and make your view a lot nicer all at once!

Here are some to try;

Please let me know if I left anything out or you have a solution that works well too, I would love to hear from you.

    this is so cool! Plants are definitely an aesthetic pleasure to have around, but I didn’t know they had health benefits. I’ll definitely be looking at something get rid of the smell of my husband’s cigars! Any excuse to get some new plants is fine with me…

    Great information, I had no idea about the ability of plants to clean the air of these toxins.

    In Morristown, NJ, there are/were plans to build a new LEEDS certified office building with the largest biowall in the US. A biowall is pretty much a wall of soil and plants connected to the building’s HVAC system, so all the air that circulates in the building is purified by the plants. I wonder if they use the sort of information you provided in creating one of these biowalls. I hope the plans for the building go through, last time I drove by there didn’t seem to be much progress.

    Yes, it is amazing the benefits from “greening-up”
    Allison, let us know if that project is still a go, I’d love to write a post about it.
